Scorpion Exterminator in McKinney TX
Sealed out at the foundation.
Serving McKinney, Plano, Frisco, Allen and across Collin County.
Why McKinney Homeowners Choose Pest Me Off for Scorpion Control
Pest Me Off is a family-owned, Texas-licensed pest control company that has been clearing scorpions out of McKinney, Plano, Frisco and Allen homes since 2014.
Every home is treated by a licensed applicator, never a subcontractor. The scorpion you stepped over is almost never alone, and the chains that spray a baseboard and leave miss the wall voids and the weep holes the rest are using. We start with a UV blacklight inspection after dark to see how many are really out there, treat the population and the insects they hunt, then barrier the foundation and seal the exact entry points on a Texas slab home, which is the part that actually keeps the next one out.
How our scorpion control service works
Spraying the one scorpion you found in the bathroom does nothing about the others in the wall voids or the weep holes the next one will climb through. The RID Method goes after the whole problem: the population you cannot see, the insects feeding them, and the exact gaps they use to get inside a slab home. Remove and Install both happen on the initial visit. That is our one-time Scorpion Annihilation service. Defend is the ongoing step, available on a recurring plan, for homes that face scorpion pressure every spring and summer and want to stay clear.
Remove the Scorpions at the Source
Scorpions glow bright green under ultraviolet light, so we start with a UV blacklight inspection of the foundation, garage, and any indoor activity after dark. That shows the true population, not just the one you stepped over. We Remove the scorpions where they hide, the garage edges, wall void access, and the foundation, then treat the crickets and roaches that draw them in. Scorpions follow the food, so knocking down the prey is half the fight.
- UV blacklight inspection after dark to find the real population and entry zones
- We treat the scorpions and the crickets and roaches they hunt
- Species confirmed first: the striped bark scorpion is the one in Collin County homes
- EPA-registered, pet-safe once the treatment dries (1 to 2 hours)
Install Scorched Earth Barrier
On the same visit, we Install the Scorched Earth Barrier around the foundation with products that cling to a scorpion’s waxy shell, where a generic spray slides right off. Then we seal the exact entry points a scorpion climbs through on a Texas slab home: the brick weep holes, the garage door seal, door thresholds, and the gaps around utility lines. A scorpion fits through a 1/16-inch gap, so the sealing is what makes the barrier hold.
- Scorched Earth Barrier ringed around the full foundation at ground level
- Brick weep holes, garage door seal, thresholds, and utility gaps sealed and treated
- We flag overhanging limbs that let climbers drop onto the roof
- Pets and kids back inside in 1 to 2 hours
Defend Year-Round
Remove and Install clear the scorpions you have today. Defend keeps it that way. Scorpion pressure here is annual and predictable, running April through October, and a one-time barrier breaks down before the next spring’s first wave. Quarterly visits keep the Scorched Earth Barrier live and re-check every sealed entry point. The one-time Scorpion Annihilation service handles R and I. Defend is the step you add when you want your home held through every season.
- Quarterly re-treatment keeps the barrier live through the April-to-October season
- Guaranteed re-service whenever our tech confirms it is warranted
- Contract plans and no-contract options both available
- Quarterly plans start at $40/mo, billed monthly
Oklahoma State University Extension and Texas A&M AgriLife document that the striped bark scorpion is an outdoor species that climbs and slips into structures through small cracks and openings, so lasting control comes from an exterior barrier plus sealing the entry points, not just treating the scorpions already inside. We do both on one visit.
A Real Scorpion Job We Have Handled
Not a stock photo. A real scorpion call in Collin County, with what we found and what it tells us.
A scorpion and crickets caught together on one glue trap
On a Celina inspection in July 2025, a monitoring glue board placed near a concrete-floor space caught a striped bark scorpion sitting in the middle of several crickets (pictured). That is the scorpion food chain on a single trap: the crickets came in first, and the scorpion followed the prey straight to the same spot.
It is the clearest reason a baseboard spray alone never holds. As long as crickets and other insects are gathering at the foundation, scorpions keep coming up after them. We treat the scorpions and the prey together, barrier the foundation, and seal the gaps and weep holes the next one would use.
Where the crickets gather, the scorpions follow. Cut off the food and the entry points, not just the one you find.
Pricing for Scorpion Control

Why DIY Scorpion Killer Fails in McKinney TX
Every can of bug spray makes the same promise. Every bathroom where another scorpion turns up next week proves it wrong. The problem is not the product. It is that scorpions live outside, hide in wall voids and weep holes you have not sealed, and climb past a baseboard spray on the tips of their feet without picking up a lethal dose. Kill the one you see and the rest keep coming up through the same gaps. Here is what homeowners try, why it does not work, and what our team does differently.
| What homeowners try | Why it fails | What actually works |
|---|---|---|
|
Spray the baseboards with store-bought scorpion killerRaid, Ortho Home Defense class
|
A scorpion’s waxy shell sheds most over-the-counter spray.
It crosses a treated line on the tips of its feet without picking up a lethal dose, generic sprays break down in days, and they never reach the wall voids where the rest are hiding. |
We use products that cling to the shell, placed where they travel.
Barrier products that stick to a scorpion’s waxy shell, applied at the foundation and entry points by a licensed applicator. |
|
Set off a bug bomb in the attic or garagefoggers and total-release cans
|
Foggers drive scorpions down into living space.
They push them out of the attic through light fixtures, the mist settles on open surfaces and never penetrates the wall voids where they cluster, and it does nothing about the weep holes the next ones climb through. |
We find them with UV, then barrier and seal.
A UV blacklight inspection after dark to map the population, then a Scorched Earth Barrier at the foundation and the entry points sealed shut. |
|
Shake out shoes and hope it was a one-off
|
A scorpion inside almost always means more near the foundation.
They are using the same gaps, and one female can carry 13 to 47 live young on her back, so the population multiplies. Without a barrier and sealed entry points, every warm night sends more up to the wall. |
We confirm the species and map the population first.
Confirm the striped bark scorpion with a UV blacklight walk after dark, then treat the scorpions and the crickets and roaches feeding them, install the barrier, and seal the weep holes, garage seal, and thresholds. |
How to Know You Have Scorpions
A few quick tells confirm the striped bark scorpion, the one in Collin County homes by a wide margin, before we treat.
The striped bark scorpion is yellowish-tan to light brown with two dark stripes running down the back, slender claws, and a curled tail, 2 to 2.75 inches long. The fastest confirmation is a UV blacklight after dark: a scorpion glows bright green, which no lookalike does.
Indoors they show up in garages, bathrooms, and on ceilings after slipping through a 1/16-inch gap. The number-one way in is the brick weep holes, then the garage door seal and door thresholds. Outside they shelter under stone, mulch, and woodpiles against the foundation.
The sting causes immediate burning, swelling, and numbness that can last several hours, similar to a bad wasp sting. It is medically minor for healthy adults, but children, older adults, and anyone with a sting allergy are higher risk and should be watched closely. Seek medical care if breathing trouble or widespread numbness develops.
Scorpion Prevention in McKinney TX Homes
Scorpions are a yearly Texas reality, not a one-time problem, especially in the newer slab subdivisions across Collin County. Our one-visit treatment clears the scorpions you have today. Keeping the next one out takes sealed weep holes, ground cover pulled back from the foundation, and an active barrier through the April-to-October season.
Ongoing service keeps the barrier live through peak summer pressure. Quarterly plans start at $40/mo with guaranteed re-service when our tech confirms it is warranted. No-contract options are available too.
See plan optionsSeal the weep holes and the gaps a scorpion fits through. A scorpion slips through a 1/16-inch opening, so the brick weep holes are the number-one way in, followed by the garage door seal, door thresholds, and the gaps around AC and plumbing lines. Stainless or copper mesh in the weep holes and a fresh door sweep close the routes. If you can slide a credit card under your garage door, a scorpion can get under it. This matters most across McKinney, Plano, Frisco, and Allen newer slab homes, where weep holes and utility gaps are often left open.
Pull the cover back and starve the prey. Move woodpiles, stacked stone, and dense ground cover at least a few feet off the foundation, and trim tree limbs back from the roofline so climbers cannot drop onto the roof. Switch bright white exterior lights to warm or amber, which draws fewer of the crickets and roaches scorpions hunt. Fewer insects at the wall means fewer scorpions following the food.
The honest math on scorpion control. A single Scorpion Annihilation visit clears the scorpions you have today. A quarterly plan clears that and keeps the barrier live through the April-to-October season when pressure peaks. For homes near new construction or greenbelt edges, recurring service is the only model that actually holds the line season after season.
Scorpion Control in McKinney, Allen, Frisco, and Plano
Scorpion pressure runs hardest in newer slab subdivisions backing onto greenbelts and creek corridors, and anywhere construction is still clearing the habitat next door. Stone landscaping and limestone retaining walls add cover right at the foundation. We dispatch daily across all 14 service cities.
Allen, TX
High pressureHomes backing onto the Cottonwood Creek and Rowlett Creek corridors give scorpions a route straight in from preserved natural ground, and new development along the US-75 edge keeps displacing them toward finished streets. Through Twin Creeks the slab homes with open weep holes are the ones that see them inside. We find them with UV, barrier the foundation, and seal the gaps, not just the one you stepped over.
Allen pest control
Frisco, TX
High pressureActive construction in eastern Frisco near the McKinney border keeps pushing scorpions off cleared land and toward finished homes. New builds in Phillips Creek Ranch and Hollyhock pair fresh slabs with stone landscaping and irrigated beds, cover and moisture right at the foundation. The newest homes, where weep holes and utility gaps sit open, are the ones that find scorpions inside the first summer.
Frisco pest control
McKinney, TX
High pressureThe creek corridors and greenbelt edges through Stonebridge Ranch move scorpions from preserved ground straight into the neighborhoods beside them. McKinney’s northern and western growth edge, where land is still being cleared next to finished streets, sees the city’s heaviest scorpion call volume. Painted Tree and other new builds are where open weep holes and garage gaps are the road in, so we seal them as we treat.
McKinney pest control
Plano, TX
Moderate pressurePlano is largely built out, so the scorpion calls cluster where homes sit against natural ground: properties bordering Arbor Hills, Oak Point Park, and the Spring Creek nature area on the northern edge. Anywhere in Plano, stone landscaping and limestone retaining walls give scorpions cover at the foundation. We walk the perimeter with UV, barrier the wall, and seal the weep holes and gaps they use to get in.
