On this Allen home, our tech installed a heavy galvanized steel mesh cage over a roof vent next to the dormer wall. Uncovered roof vents give rats, mice and squirrels a direct path into the attic, especially as nights cool in the fall. The guard keeps the vent working while blocking that entry point.
