A black and yellow carpenter bee with orange pollen on its leg feeding on white tubular flowers of an abelia bush with pink sepals and glossy green leaves.

During a visit in Princeton, TX, our tech photographed a carpenter bee collecting pollen from a flowering abelia bush, with orange pollen visible on its hind leg. On flowers, carpenter bees are useful pollinators, but they can cause damage when they bore nesting holes into fascia, eaves, decks and fences. If you notice round holes or fine sawdust on your exterior wood, call Pest Me Off at 972-866-4720.
